In the event of emergencies such as fires or accidents, the warning system will be activated, and everyone must leave the building. The warning will continue for as long as the situation requires.
When the warning system is heard, everyone must immediately leave the building via the marked escape routes. Please note that the Atrium is not an escape route and that the lifts must not be used. Instead, proceed to the stairwells on the sides of the building.
As no assembly points have been designated, everyone is expected to leave the building via the nearest escape route. It is good practice to ensure that colleagues and students get out safely.
Once the warning system has stopped, the building can be used again. Staff from Facility Management will patrol the outside of the building and inform people that it is safe to re-enter, to ensure that all those who have been evacuated have received the message.
Instructions from Facility Management or the authorities (fire service, police, etc.) must always be followed, even if they conflict with the procedure set out above.
